For five generations, Costikyan has been entrusted with the care of some of the world’s finest rugs, carpets, and drapery. From private homes to historic institutions, our work reflects a singular standard: preservation without compromise.
Since 1886, Costikyan has set the standard for luxury preservation, installation, and fabrication services dedicated to rugs, carpet, upholstery, and drapery. Our unwavering commitment to unparalleled quality and craftsmanship drives us to merge cutting-edge technology with time-tested techniques, ensuring that we continue to be a leader within our industry.
Costikyan’s story begins in the late 19th century, when S. Kent Costikyan and his family immigrated from Constantinople (modern-day Istanbul) to the United States, bringing with them generations of expertise in the rug trade.
While studying at Colgate University, a pivotal moment shaped the company’s future. After a shipment of rugs arrived in New York without a buyer, his family asked him to attempt their sale. He successfully sold them to his professors, sparking the vision that led him to establish Costikyan Frères in Rochester, New York, in 1886.
At a time when fine oriental rugs were rarely available outside private circles, Costikyan Frères introduced these works to a broader audience through curated sales in New York City.
Over time, Costikyan evolved from sourcing and sales into full-service care and conservation. While techniques have advanced, our foundation remains unchanged. We have a deep respect for craftsmanship, materials, and the stories woven into every piece.
Costikyan has grown from Rochester to Chicago, Manhattan, Long Island City, Boston, and New Jersey, reflecting our dedication to serving clients and carefully managing collections across the entire Northeast region.
From Costikyan Frères to the House of Kent-Costikyan to Restoration by Costikyan—each chapter reflects an expanding expertise. Today, Costikyan represents a unified, modern standard in luxury textile care.
